The late archiving function is useful if you want to avoid paper-based archives
and
view on screen documents relevant to posting lines.
With this archiving method, the document (e.g. an incoming invoice) passes through
the operational workflow in the same way it would in paper form. What is new is
that
the accounting clerk attaches a barcode sticker to the record that represents a
unique document number.
In the respective SAP application, this document number
is entered
in the posting record.
Generally, the barcode is recorded by means of a reading wand connected to the keyboard,
then interpreted and automatically stored with the appropriate posting line. This
prevents "typos", and documents are matched correctly to the posting records.
Once the business transaction has been processed, records are digitized by means
of scanners and archived in PAM for ERP basic. The barcode sticker value is read
and stored as a reference to the corresponding SAP posting record in the PAM for
ERP basic document index database. If the user needs to view the document related
to the posting line, it can be retrieved directly in the leading SAP application
and displayed on screen. |
