The HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) archive engine is the result of 20 years
of development work. The archive kernel is included in all H&S archive products.
A central corporate repository for all document types and sources thus becomes a
reality.
HSM high availability
The archive server supports all common storage systems in
Microsoft and UNIX landscapes. In addition to basic archiving,
PAM-STORAGE also supports multiple parallel archiving in storage systems operating
independently of each other. This variant guarantees the high availability of business-critical
documents.
HSM Single-Instance Storage Technology
The integrated SIS (Single-Instance Storage) technology avoids archive duplicates.
This saves storage space in the archive and enhances consistency. An encryption
module is also included in PAM for ERP basic to protect documents from unauthorized
access.
COMPLIANCE
Documents and data under duty to be preserved can be protected from deletion (by
stipulating a retention time) in the archive according to their document type (e.g.
incoming invoices).
This ensures that archived documents cannot be deleted from the archive prior to
a set date. In conjunction with revision-compliant media, this prevents manipulation.
The integrated version management feature automatically creates
a new document version once a document is retrieved from the archive and changed.
The versioning feature also extends to the authorship level. This ensures seamless
traceability for internal
and external auditors.
HSM Document Lifecyclemanagement
At some point in time data and documents lose their relevance for daily business
and only have to be preserved in archives for legal reasons or to comply with quality
policies. At the same time, they
are accessed less frequently. It would thus make sense to move documents according
to their relevance from expensive online
media to affordable nearline or offline media.
The Lifecycle Manager embedded in PAM-STORAGE moves archived files to affordable
storage media, creates copies, and deletes documents on expiration of the defined
retention period. The user does not have to remember which storage location and
medium is used as PAM-STORAGE automatically accesses the correct archive storage
medium.
