The HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) archive engine supplied with the
PAM for NOTES email archiving solution is the result of 20 years of development
work. The archive kernel is included in all H&S archive products.
HSM Single Instance Store Technologie
The integrated SIS (Single-Instance Storage) technology avoids archive duplicates.
This saves storage space in the archive and enhances consistency. An encryption
module is also included in PAM for NOTES to protect documents from unauthorized
access.
High availability
Asynchronous archiving for an unlimited number of independent archive media ensures
a high failover capacity. Even if a Domino server fails, users can still access
archived
emails via a web frontend. PAM for NOTES is the first choice for businesses that
demand the utmost in operational reliability and sustainable protection of their
investments.
The Media Service for PAM for NOTES supports all common storage systems in Microsoft and UNIX landscapes.
Single Instance Store
Emails sent to several recipients are divided into header, body, and attachments
and archived. Identical elements are only archived once (Single-Instance Storage).
This saves storage space in the archive and enhances consistency. Encrypted emails
can also be archived. They are archived as encapsulated nsf files.
Restore on the fly
When an email in Notes reaches the end of its active lifecycle it is archived, with
a skeleton document remaining in Notes. With a simple click on an archived email,
it is restored immediately - the entire body and attachments are recovered and can
be reused in order to respond to or forward an email. Alternatively, a link to the
archived email is created. If the user then clicks on the link, the email opens
in the web archive
(as of Q2/2009).
