A two-tier delete protection can be assigned to emails that must be preserved.
This ensures that archived emails cannot be deleted from the archive prior to a
set date.
For added security, emails can be archived using the Lotus Notes journal database.
In this method, every e-mail is copied into a special database prior to delivery.
Only specially authorized administrators can access this database. When the email
is
delivered to the Domino server, the archive copy is sent from the journal database.
Manipulation is prevented when audit-compliant media are used, such as WORM, UDO,
EMC Centera, NetApp systems with SnapLock, iCas/iTernity systems, and IBM Tivoli.
For long-term archiving, emails can also be saved in DXL format as well as in TXT
or
HTML format. Encrypted or signed emails are archived in nsf format.
